- Basic backup and optimization strategies for DBA’s

- Best practices for upgrading an application database from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008

Charles Tournear of Result Data will lead a discussion of common backup strategies, SQL Server configurations and different methods for optimizing servers and queries.

Michael Mullin will lead a discussion on best practices for upgrading an application database from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008. In addition, Mike will review the best practices for moving to SQL Server 2008, including the pros and cons of doing an upgrade of an existing server versus a migration to a new server.
