This one day hands-on workshop is instructor led and covers the most important concepts and topics surrounding how to use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. Its focus is on the creation of Integration Services data transformation packages and the use of such packages to create and deploy Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) solutions for both operational and data warehouse environments. This workshop covers important data management topics including: data transformation and ETL basics, SSIS Architecture, Control Flows, Data Flows, Error Handling, Lookups, Package Deployment and more. This is an intermediate course with strong technical content. Students should be prepared to be challenged and should be willing to stay the entire eight hours in most cases.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is best suited for people who have an interest in learning about how to manage data transformation processes using SQL Server Integration Services. Typical students include Database Administrators, Business Intelligence Specialists, Data Warehouse Architects and Developers.

Prerequisites & Recommended Preparatory Training

Students should have a firm understanding of database design principles and at least some experience working with scripting or formula syntax (i.e. IIF statements in Excel or basic SQL Statement use). SQL language, formula writing or programming skills are helpful. This is a technical course and students should be prepared to engage in configuration and scripting activities. Recommended preparatory courses include:

-SQL Level 1
