Key Concepts of Qlik Sense – Part I (The Hub)

Qlik Sense is a web-based application with different areas to work in. You chose which area to view depending on what you would like to see in the application. There are areas to see the data model, work with storytelling, or exploring data. On startup, Qlik Sense will open up the hub in your default browser (an HTML 5 client is required). The hub is an environment where you can find existing apps that you have rights to view and you can create new apps.

There are two editions of Qlik Sense at the moment:

QlikSense_JCommerceQlik Sense Enterprise

qlik-senseQlik Sense Desktop (single-user local version)

In the enterprise edition you will also have a column showing the streams you can access. Streams are groups of apps that users can be assigned to for security purposes. You will also have an option called ‘My work’ which will allow you to create a new app, provided you have user rights to create your own apps. Clicking on an app in the hub will open it in a separate tab.

The hub has its own tool bar with various commands.

There are also sorting options and you can toggle between a grid view and a list view of all the apps in the main area.
